Scotland, United Kingdom based Flight School Tayside Aviation which operates a fleet of around 20 Light Aircraft is looking for a Managing Director.
Tayside Aviation have been delivering flight training for 53 years and is a UK CAA Approved Flight Training Organisation delivering all courses from Private Pilot Licence to a full Airline Licence.
The Honourable Company of Air Pilots (HCAP) have awarded Tayside Aviation the prestigious Royal Air Force, Central Flying School Trophy. This award is given to an individual or organisation who has demonstrated excellence in flight training. This is an outstanding achievement as Tayside are the only civilian organisation to achieve this award.

LOCATION: Dundee City
JOB TITLE: Managing Director (MD)
REPORTING TO: Board of Directors/Shareholder
JOB PURPOSE: The Managing Director is responsible for the leadership, management and direction of Tayside Aviation within the context of a strategic plan. The Managing Director is accountable for the overall performance of the company in delivering the strategic plan, and for the day to day running and management of the company’s business under delegated authority from the Board of Directors/ Shareholders
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Strategic Management
11. Attain agreed levels of turnover and profitability.
12. Work closely with the financial accountants to prepare annual and monthly budgets, complete risk analysis on potential investments and advise the Board of Directors with regard to investment risk and return.
13. Manage and maintain agreed budgets by monitoring on a weekly basis and taking corrective action as and when required.
Reporting
14. Read all submitted reports by lower rank managers to reward performance, prevent issues and resolve problems.
15. Produce regular reports to the Board of Directors/Shareholders, including but not exclusive to:
Marketing:
Ensure there are strategic marketing plans in place for Tayside Aviation to increase sales and profitability, and implement these plans where approved.
Health & Safety:
Understand, and ensure the implementation of Tayside Aviation’s Health & Safety policy, and Emergency & Fire procedures and refine or develop these policies (where applicable).
Adhere to and maintain safety standards with regard to all relevant aviation safety requirements as well as general health and safety.
Communication:
Maintain effective communications through regular contact/meetings with Staff Members, Board of Directors/Shareholders and any other concerned bodies including Regulatory bodies. Ensure that minutes are taken during meetings where appropriate.
