Major US Airline Announces 2025 Appointment for Chief Commercial Officer

USA – Major US carrier American Airlines has appointed aviation industry veteran Nathaniel “Nat” Pieper as its new Chief Commercial Officer, effective 3 November 2025. Pieper brings over 25 years of experience in commercial and finance roles across several major airlines and most recently served as CEO of the oneworld alliance.

  • Nathaniel Pieper will lead all commercial functions at American Airlines, including strategic alliances and partnerships
  • He will also co-lead the Customer Experience team alongside COO David Seymour.
  • Pieper previously served as:
  • CEO of oneworld alliance (since April 2024), where he oversaw integration of two new member airlines, customer experience initiatives and long-term strategic alignment
  • SVP at Alaska Air Group, where he led Alaska’s entry into oneworld and strengthened its partnership with American Airlines
  • SVP for EMEA and VP Fleet Strategy at Delta Air Lines
