Training Aircraft Manufacturer Elixir Aircraft to Open New US Facility in Florida

During the Sun’n’Fun airshow taking place from 9 to 14 April 2024 in Lakeland, Florida, Elixir Aircraft is proud to announce a new site in the United States. Situated at Sarasota Bradenton Airport in Florida, this facility will focus on the reassembly of aircraft intended for delivery to clients in the US. The demand for Elixir aircraft in the American market is substantial, with over 200 units already pre-ordered. This expansion will result in the employment of approximately 200 new staff members at the Sarasota location, in addition to the existing 200 staff members in France.

The 4th generation aircraft manufacturer, Elixir Aircraft, has marked the next phase of their growth by signing a long-term lease for their new, main US reassembly and support facility in Sarasota, Florida.

Located on the flight line at Sarasota Bradenton Airport (SRQ), the facility will consist of two custom and modern buildings. Elixir Aircraft will take occupation of the first 12,500 square feet fully renovated hangar in Q4 2024, mainly for initial re-assembly of aircraft delivered to US clients.

Then a new second building of 6,000 square feet adjacent to the first shall be taken on by Elixir Aircraft in August of 2025, to continue with re-assembly and hold spare parts stock for the east coast of the USA.

Both buildings will support Elixir Aircraft’s long-term growth and talent recruitment in America.

Elixir Aircraft envisions employing around 200 staff at Sarasota Bradenton Airport by 2027. These men and women will provide numerous services to Elixir Aircraft’s North American clients including administration, aircraft reassembly and deliveries, maintaining stock of spare parts and providing any support needed.

In addition to Sarasota, Elixir is currently putting in place additional support partnerships in Arizona and the Midwest USA.

The company’s CEO, Arthur Léopold-Léger, explains: “When we started Elixir, we knew the American market will be key to the future success of the company. After years of looking for the right U.S. location, and many trips to the area, we are excited to tell the world we will be in Sarasota, Florida. We at Elixir Aircraft would like to thank the management team of Sarasota Airport specifically Rick Piccolo Airport CEO, Joseph Filippelli SVP Real Estate and Lionel Guilbert SVP Operations, for making this decision and whole process  both easy and enjoyable.”

Cyril Champenois, Elixir Aircraft co-Founder, further explains: “With over 200 aircraft already on order and pre-order in the U.S., our new Sarasota facility is crucial to our growth globally. Sarasota located on the East coast, with a passionate aviation and sailing community, is similar to our home city of La Rochelle France. We look forward to the future from an office that feels like home. We have also factored in room to grow in the SRQ area, so the Elixir team and I envision many happy years ahead of us.”

In February 2024, Elixir announced an expansion of their headquarters in La Rochelle, France to 14,000 m² (150,000 sqft). This highly energy-efficient and environmentally friendly industrial site will house all production activities. Elixir Aircraft aims to produce more than 300 aircraft a year. To meet demand, Elixir HQ is expected to employ over a thousand people by 2033.

About Elixir Aircraft

Elixir Aircraft, created in 2015 and headquartered in France, offers aviators throughout the world the latest and most advanced 4th generation single engine aircraft. Based in La Rochelle, Elixir Aircraft employs more than 150 employees, is recruiting massively and is constructing new facilities in La Rochelle, France and Sarasota, Florida, USA.

Flight School Management Software Private-Radar Showcases Aircraft Tracking System Featuring Enhancing Aviation Training Efficiency and Safety

Private-Radar, a cloud-based software designed to streamline the daily operations of pilot training organisations, shared information about its aircraft tracking system advantages for flight schools.

Automation: Streamlining Operations

One of the core functions of the Aircraft Tracking System is its ability to automate vital aspects of flight data management. Traditionally, recording accurate flight times and maintaining logbooks have been time-consuming tasks prone to human errors. Private-Radar’s solution streamlines these processes by automatically capturing flight times, including block time and air time. By synchronizing this data with the Flight School Management System, the ATS eliminates errors, ultimately saving both time and money for operators.

Safety Enhancement

Safety is a top priority in aviation, particularly in environments like flight schools, where pilots are often in the early stages of their training. The Aircraft Tracking System enhances safety by continuously monitoring aircraft movements and alerting operators to any potentially dangerous behaviors or situations in real-time. Whether it’s detecting low passes, airspace intrusions, or hand landings, the ATS provides immediate notifications, allowing operators to intervene promptly and mitigate risks effectively.

Live Tracking for Real-Time Monitoring

To provide more effective fleet management and enhanced operational oversight, Private-Radar’s Aircraft Tracking System offers real-time flight monitoring. Private-Radar’s live tracking feature offers a secure and private map interface where operators can monitor the precise location, altitude, speed, and performance of their aircraft in real-time. This level of visibility ensures operators always know the whereabouts and activities of their fleet, empowering them to make informed decisions and respond swiftly to any emerging issues or concerns.

How Does Private-Radar’s Aircraft Tracking System Work?

The Aircraft Tracking System revolves around a compact, ultra-lightweight device known as the Flight Tracker. Easily installed (and removable) within the aircraft, the Flight Tracker provides constant live positioning, by recording one GPS position every ten seconds and transmitting this data to Private-Radar’s servers via the GSM network, to be logged and recorded in Private-Radar’s flight school management system. This continuous data stream provides operators with comprehensive insights into their fleet’s movements and performance, allowing for comprehensive monitoring and real-time safety alerts.

How does Private-Radar’s Aircraft Tracking System compare with ADSB and other systems?

Most people are familiar with ADSB (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast) technology. An aviation tool that enables aircraft to broadcast their position, velocity, and other information for air traffic control and nearby aircraft to receive and use. However, ADSB comes with a set of limitations, particularly for light aircraft and, even more so, for flight schools.

For example, you can access live data on flightradar24.com, but ADSB data does not synchronize with your Flight School Management System or record the data you need. ADSB also relies on ground antennas that are not always available, and obstacles and terrain can significantly reduce its effectiveness. The onboard transponder can also be switched off, preventing ADSB from sending any transmissions.

In contrast, Private-Radar’s Aircraft Tracking System offers a more robust and integrated solution, tailored specifically to the needs of flight schools, by seamlessly synchronizing with the flight school management system and instantly and accurately recording all relevant flight data. Crucially, the ATS also improves safety by automatically notifying you of dangerous behavior (low passes, airspace intrusions, accidents, and hard landings).

Each position recorded by the Flight Tracker is analyzed in real time against the altitude and airspace. The Flight Tracker seamlessly integrates with Private-Radar’s Safety Management System, and in case of an issue, the Aircraft Tracking System generates an SMS event and sends automatic warning notifications to the SMS manager and any other key personnel

To conclude, Private-Radar’s Aircraft Tracking System represents a significant advancement in aviation training solutions, providing an innovative and automated system for flight data management, safety enhancement, and real-time fleet monitoring. By leveraging the power of automation and advanced tracking capabilities, operators can streamline their operations, mitigate risks, and ensure the safety and efficiency of their aircraft fleets.

Earlier in the year the flight school solution provider shared its 2023 traction and adoption by flight schools:

“In 2023, we doubled down on our commitment to excellence, further consolidating our position as a leading provider of flight school management solutions. We are proud to say that over 50,000 users currently benefit from Private-Radar in 30 countries over the five continents, including industry leaders Lufthansa Aviation Training and CAE.

In May, we had the opportunity to visit our partners at Lufthansa Aviation Training in Rostock, Germany. During our stay at the European Flight Academy, we had the privilege of spending two days with the team, exploring their cutting-edge facilities, and even participating in an instructional flight. We were also able to film this remarkable experience and showcase our solutions in real-world conditions.

2023 has also been an extremely busy year for our partners, with over 400,000 hours of flight recorded by our Aircraft Tracking System, which is now equipped in over 700 aircraft around the world.

In regard to the Flight School Management System, we have published over 40 improvements and new features this year alone. On top of this, we’ve continued to overhaul the whole solution to allow for a faster and more user-friendly interface, with our dedicated team continuing to work under the hood to make the application quicker, more reliable and more secure.”
