Lebanon – Middle East Airlines (MEA) invites Lebanese nationals to join its Cadet Pilot Training Program to become qualified First Officers (Co‑Pilots).
- The cadet training scheme is designed to lead to obtaining: the European European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR), Multi‑Engine (ME) rating, Multi Crew Cooperation course (MCC) and Jet Orientation Course (JOC).
- Training is conducted at a contracted flight school (typically Flight Training Europe in Jerez, Spain)
- Duration of the initial (ab‐initio) training: approximately 66 weeks (ground school + simulator + actual flying + JOC) including full board accommodation.
- After successful ab‑initio training, cadets will undergo a Type Rating training (estimated ~8 weeks).
- Contract: Once selected, cadets sign a contract with MEA for ten (10) contractual years from employment date. Starting salary as First Officer is approximately US$ 3,500 per month.
Cost & Financial Arrangements
- Ab‑initio training estimated cost: US$ 150,000.
- Payment options:
- If no loan is required: pay US$ 60,000 at contract signature; US$ 45,000 after 3 months of training; US$ 45,000 after 6 months of training.
- If a loan is required: initial payment US$ 35,000; loan amount ~US$ 115,000; the loan must be secured by bank guarantee or real‑estate mortgage acceptable to MEA.
- Type Rating cost: estimated US$ 100,000. Cadet must provide a certified personal guarantee/co‑sponsor acceptable to MEA. This debt may be waived if contractual & financial obligations are duly met.
- Insurance: Cadet must undertake life & personal accident temporary insurance (covering flying risks as cadet) naming MEA as sole beneficiary. Example amount US$ 150,000.
