Philippines – The National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Pasay City have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to develop an aviation curriculum for Senior High School students.
- DepEd Pasay’s Division Memorandum No. 1464, s. 2026, dated August 5, specifically identifies Pasay City South High School and NAAP as the parties to the school-level agreement; NAAP confirmed that the formal MOA signing took place on August 13.
- The partners intend to develop a Senior High School curriculum providing foundational aviation knowledge and competencies while creating progression from secondary education into aviation-related tertiary study and employment.
- NAAP said the project is intended to prepare students for further aviation studies rather than constitute professional pilot licensing training at the Senior High School level.
- DepEd Pasay Schools Division Superintendent Joel Torrecampo said the initiative could eventually be replicated at other Senior High Schools in the city.
- The partnership follows the transformation of the Philippine State College of Aeronautics into NAAP under Republic Act No. 12255, signed on September 5, 2025. The legislation designates NAAP as the Philippines’ national professional institution for aviation and gives it a mandate to strengthen aviation curricula and maintain an integrated aviation education and training system aligned with industry requirements.
- NAAP currently reports 6,593 enrolled students and 16 academic programmes across its institution. Its campuses include Villamor in Pasay City, Fernando Air Base in Batangas, Basa Air Base in Pampanga and Mactan in Cebu.
- NAAP’s institutional dashboard states that all 16 programmes hold Certificates of Program Compliance and that its four campuses hold Aviation Training Organization Certificates. NAAP is also recognised by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines as a skill-test facility.
- The Villamor campus currently offers aviation programmes including BS Air Transportation Major in Advance Flying, BS Aeronautical Engineering, BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology, BS Aviation Electronics Technology and BS Aviation Communication Major in Flight Operations, among other aviation-related qualifications.
