District of Columbia, USA – The National Flight Training Alliance (NFTA), a US aviation industry advocacy organisation representing professional flight training providers, has hosted an Aviation Advocacy and Government Affairs Roundtable in Washington, D.C., bringing together flight training leaders, industry partners and federal officials.

  • The roundtable was held on October 29, 2026, bringing together representatives from the US flight training sector and federal government to exchange views on industry challenges and policy priorities.
  • Aviation technology company Pilotbase sponsored the event, supporting NFTA's engagement with flight training organisations and government stakeholders. Pilotbase is the parent brand of Flight Schedule Pro and LogTen, providing software for flight school operations, student training progression and pilot logbook management.
  • The meeting forms part of NFTA's broader government affairs and industry engagement activities, which include collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the modernisation of 14 CFR Part 141 regulations governing certificated pilot schools.
  • NFTA is also conducting a national survey of Part 141 flight schools to gather information about training operations and certificate management, providing additional industry input for its regulatory modernisation work.
  • AFM previously reported that NFTA submitted a 471-page Part 141 modernisation report to the FAA in March 2026, outlining eight principal recommendations covering centralised regulatory oversight, training management, examining authority reform, safety management and expanded recognition of flight simulation and extended reality training technologies.
