United Kingdom – BAE Systems, Boeing and Saab have signed a Letter of Intent to collaborate on the UK Royal Air Force’s next-generation fast-jet trainer programme, positioning the T-7 as the core aircraft within an integrated live-synthetic training system. The collaboration aligns with requirements outlined in the UK’s 2025 Strategic Defence Review and sets the framework for a jointly developed solution intended to support both national and international fast-jet pilot-training needs.
- The partnership will develop an advanced training system combining live, virtual and constructive (LVC) capabilities, integrated mission systems, and a fully modernised fast-jet training environment.
- BAE Systems will lead the effort and plans to establish UK-based final assembly of the T-7, generating high-value jobs and supporting industrial-base growth within the UK supply chain.
- Boeing and Saab bring their experience from jointly developing the T-7A Red Hawk, selected by the U.S. Air Force as its advanced pilot-training platform, delivering multi-generational capability improvements for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-generation fighter training.
- The collaboration aims to offer a successor to the Hawk trainer for the UK while creating a foundation for export-ready training solutions for international customers.
- The partners will explore additional opportunities for UK supply-chain participation and capability development as part of the programme’s industrial strategy.
