New Flight School Opens in Louisiana, USA in 2025

October 30, 2025

Louisiana, USA – A new FAA-certified Part 141 flight training institution, the Aviation Academy of Louisiana, has officially opened in New Iberia, bringing expanded aviation education opportunities and local economic benefits to the region.

  • The Aviation Academy of Louisiana will provide training across eight airplane and six helicopter courses, positioning itself as one of the few dual-rotary and fixed-wing academies in southern Louisiana.
  • Chris Babin, representing the academy, said the goal is to make flight training more accessible for aspiring pilots: “We have a lot of people looking for flight training. A lot of times, the barrier of entry for that has to do with financial means, so this opens up a lot of funding options for people to be able to use for flight training.”
  • The academy is also working toward VA certification, which will allow eligible U.S. military veterans to use GI Bill benefits for pilot training, broadening financial accessibility and supporting veteran career transitions into aviation.
