New York, USA – Tottenville High School has integrated a comprehensive Aviation Flight Technology Career Pathway into its curriculum, offering high school students early exposure to aviation, aerospace, and unmanned systems careers. The program, featuring hands-on flight simulation training, exemplifies how secondary education institutions are expanding STEM-based career pipelines.
Students explore aviation engineering principles, flight technology, and drone operations.
Approximately 100 students are currently enrolled in the aviation pathway.
The course prepares students for the FAA Part 107 drone certification, which requires passing a 60-question knowledge exam.
Tottenville High School regularly hosts middle school visits, using the flight simulator experience to spark early interest in aviation careers.

“If students can imagine it, we at Tottenville strive to make it happen. We want the students to come to school, to have fun, and to succeed. Sometimes, it just takes a little bit of something different to make that happen,” said Dr. Zach Rosch, STREAM Operations Director at Tottenville High School.
“The actual design of this space was entirely created and constructed by students,” Rosch added.
