New Zealand – New Zealand Airline Academy Limited (NZAAL) appointed Craig Musson as Head of Governance. The appointment signals a formalization of NZAAL's independent governance and compliance structure to match its recent scale-up, which has included nearly doubling international student numbers and taking over former New Zealand International Commercial Pilot Academy (NZICPA) infrastructure in Whanganui under a 10-year lease.

  • Craig Musson brings more than 26 years of leadership and governance experience in the tertiary education and vocational training sector to his new role as Head of Governance at NZAAL.
  • Musson previously served as owner and Managing Director of National Trade Academy Ltd, under whose subcontracting arrangement NZAAL operated since its inception eight years ago before becoming an independent Private Training Establishment.
  • Musson currently chairs Independent Tertiary Education New Zealand (ITENZ), New Zealand's largest peak body representing Private Training Establishments, and developed the Primary Sector Training Visa programme linking New Zealand, Chile, and South Korea.
  • AFM previously reported that NZAAL, one of New Zealand's largest pilot training organisations, took over former NZICPA facilities in Whanganui under a 10-year lease beginning January 2026, after nearly doubling its international student numbers from 92 to 185 over the prior year.
