Next-Gen Simulator Visual Platform Set to Transform Pilot-Training Environments at US Flight Training Operations in 2026

November 23, 2025

USA – Frasca International, Inc. (Frasca), a Flight Safety International company and long-established developer of flight simulators for universities, flight schools, and professional operators, has unveiled its next-generation visual system VITAL FVS 100, powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. The launch represents a significant step forward in visual-system capability for flight-training devices, integrating high-fidelity rendering, dynamic weather environments, and advanced training realism for pilot-training organisations.

  • VITAL FVS 100 builds on Frasca’s previous Tru Vision Global platform, adding physically based rendering, improved global terrain imagery, advanced lighting effects, and a new volumetric cloud model that simulates complex weather phenomena.
  • The system includes 1-metre-resolution terrain imagery for the U.S. and Hawaii, and expanded global datasets covering European structures and tree-covered regions.
  • Enhanced particle modelling supports realistic simulation of smoke, fire, dust and atmospheric effects, improving scenario-based training for both normal and abnormal procedures.
  • VITAL FVS 100 offers support for virtual reality (VR) and mixed-reality environments, providing operators with emerging-technology options for advanced skills training.
  • Two major U.S. aviation universities — Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Liberty University — are among the first adopters, beginning transitions of their existing Frasca simulators to the new Unreal Engine–based platform.

Statements

  • “Frasca’s next-generation visual system advances the simulation of realism further than ever before… Pilots training on this platform will experience visuals and environments that are more immersive and realistic.” John Frasca, President, Frasca International
  • “We are thrilled to be one of the first flight training programs in the country to launch the new Frasca International flight simulator visual system powered by Unreal Engine.” Jonny Hewitt, Executive Director of Training, Liberty University
