Norway & Germany – Norwegian simulation technology provider 3D Perception has secured a long-term framework agreement with German simulator manufacturer Reiser Simulation and Training (REISER) to supply Lyra helicopter visual display systems for upcoming rotary-wing flight training devices. Announced on October 28, 2026, the agreement covers configurable visual systems for civil and military helicopter training applications, supporting the development of devices designed to meet European and US regulatory qualification requirements.
- The framework covers five helicopter platforms: the Airbus H125, H135 and H145, Leonardo AW139 and Airbus H175. It allows simulator customers to select visual display configurations appropriate to their aircraft and training requirements.
- Under the agreement, 3D Perception will provide Lyra dome display systems alongside program management, installation, system integration, documentation and long-term technical support services.
- The arrangement supports REISER's development of flight training devices for light and medium-twin helicopter operations, including pilot training for offshore, emergency medical services, search and rescue and other mission-specific applications.
- The visual systems are designed to comply with EASA CS-FSTD(H) requirements for FTD Level 3 and FNPT Level II devices, alongside FAA Level 7 requirements under 14 CFR Part 60.
- For helicopter simulator operators, the systems are intended to reduce visual-system maintenance requirements through automated alignment and modular components, while supporting visual references required for hovering, low-altitude flight and confined-area approaches.
- The Lyra system uses 3D Perception's Northstar technology platform and Aurora instrumented screens, incorporating camera-free automated image alignment. The H125, H135 and H145 configurations use compact three-channel dome displays, while AW139 and H175 configurations offer wide-angle five- or six-channel displays. Optional Night Vision Goggle (NVG) capability is available across the configurations, with visual coverage extending to helicopter chin windows.
Statements
- “This agreement reflects a shared commitment to providing reliable, high-fidelity training solutions for helicopter operators and training organizations. REISER has a strong reputation for delivering advanced helicopter simulation systems, and we are proud that 3D perception has been selected as a visual systems partner. Together, we aim to provide customers with realistic training environments that are straightforward to operate, easy to maintain, and capable of meeting demanding qualification requirements,” said Knut Krogstad, CEO of 3D Perception.
- “To deliver premier training systems to our customers, we rely on robust, high-performance technology that ensures operational readiness and long-term reliability. 3D perception’s Lyra display systems and automated alignment capabilities complement our flight training devices, enabling us to provide operators with precise visual fidelity and compliance across a versatile range of helicopter platforms,” said Michael Holz, COO at Reiser Simulation and Training.
