France – The Airbus Europe Training Centre (AETC), founded in 1972 by Jean Pinet — the legendary test pilot who first flew Concorde at supersonic speed in 1969 — has profiled its training infrastructure across Toulouse and Hamburg, highlighting its position as the pioneer and flagship of Airbus's worldwide training network.

The AETC operates seven Full-Flight Simulators covering the entire Airbus family providing type rating, recurrent, and conversion training for airlines and operators across the European market and beyond.

Alongside the FFS fleet, the centre offers innovative learning tools including dedicated Airbus Cockpit Transition (ACT) rooms and Pilot Transition Trainers designed to facilitate efficient cross-fleet qualification for pilots moving between Airbus types.
AETC is certified by EASA, UK CAA, UAE GCAA and other major NAAs.
Three structure laboratories support technical and maintenance training, reflecting the AETC's comprehensive approach to aviation training covering both flight crew and engineering personnel.

Earlier this year AFM covered that Airbus is progressing with the phased opening of its new Airbus Europe Training Centre (AETC) in Toulouse, the only Airbus training centre of its kind in Europe and one of the largest among the company's 13 global training facilities. The AETC facility has been designed with scalability as a core requirement: it is capable of doubling its 2025 simulator fleet and increasing its total trainee throughput by 50%, with additional classroom facilities coming online in 2026.
