Oman Aviation Academy Welcomes First Air Arabia Academy Pilot Trainees to Sohar

October 14, 2026

Oman & United Arab Emirates – Oman Aviation Academy (OAA), an EASA-approved flight training organisation based at Sohar Airport, has welcomed its first group of trainees from Air Arabia Academy, the Sharjah-based training division of Air Arabia. The arrival marks the implementation of a training partnership between the two academies to support the development of future airline pilots.

  • The first intake follows Oman Aviation Academy's receipt of approval from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in September 2026 to train Air Arabia Academy cadets, enabling the Omani training provider to support the UAE academy's Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) training pathway.
  • The arrangement gives Air Arabia Academy access to additional pilot training capacity in Oman, supporting the delivery of its cadet training programs through a cross-border training partnership.
  • AFM previously reported that Oman Aviation Academy and Air Arabia Academy signed their training cooperation agreement in June 2026, followed by regulatory approval in September to enable training delivery from Sohar.
  • Oman Aviation Academy's training infrastructure includes Diamond DA40 NG, Diamond DA42 NG and Pipistrel Virus SW121A aircraft, alongside Boeing 737 MAX FNPT II MCC/FTD-1, Diamond DA42 FNPT II MEP and Diamond DA40 FNPT II SEP training devices and virtual-reality training equipment.
