Omani Low-Cost Carrier Appoints New CEO Effective October 2026

August 21, 2026

Oman – Omani low-cost carrier SalamAir has appointed Eng. Yaqoob bin Saif bin Hamoud Al Kiyumi as Chief Executive Officer effective October 1, 2026, succeeding Adrian Hamilton-Manns.

  • SalamAir's current fleet comprises 18 Airbus A320 Family aircraft: seven A320neos, two A320ceos and nine A321neos. The airline added its 18th aircraft in July 2026 and plans to expand to 25 aircraft by 2028.
  • Al Kiyumi will take up the CEO position on October 1. SalamAir's Board thanked outgoing CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns for his leadership and contributions during his tenure.
  • SalamAir's expansion accelerated during 2026. The carrier operated 5,723 flights and transported 634,415 passengers during the second quarter, while its 16th and 17th aircraft entered service during the period before the 18th aircraft followed in July.
  • The airline's fleet-growth programme follows a February 2025 plan to secure 10 additional Airbus A320-family aircraft through leasing companies, with the stated objective of reaching 25 aircraft by 2028.
  • SalamAir is also expanding its internally managed pilot pipeline. The airline graduated the ninth batch of its Cadet Pilot Program in May 2026 and said Batch 10 was already in progress, with further groups planned to support longer-term operational growth.
  • The Government of Oman completed its majority ownership of SalamAir in February 2026. The airline has subsequently continued fleet and network expansion, serving more than 40 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe with more than 90 daily flights.
