Denmark – Aviation software developer Oscar Yankee has expanded its OY Wings flight training management platform with native applications for Apple devices, extending access to scheduling, student progression, flight operations and fleet information beyond the browser-based system. Announced on October 20, 2026, the development provides flight schools, instructors and students with device-specific tools for managing training activities across the airfield, briefing room and operations office.
- The expansion covers five Apple platforms: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. All applications connect to existing OY Wings accounts and are available at no additional cost to current OY Wings customers.
- The iPhone application provides access to daily schedules, aircraft bookings, training currency, fleet availability and pre-flight information, including weather and aircraft status. Instructors can also grade lesson objectives, record flight activities and complete training assessments directly from their mobile devices.
- The Apple Watch application displays upcoming lessons, assigned aircraft and information about ongoing training sessions, allowing instructors and students to monitor their schedules without accessing a mobile phone or computer.
- The iPad application provides a larger interface for reviewing student progression and grading lessons, supporting post-flight debriefings between instructors and cadets. The Mac application offers access to scheduling, fleet and maintenance planning, alongside airspace mapping and live aircraft traffic information.
- The Apple TV application introduces a live operations display designed for flight school crew rooms and briefing areas. It presents daily departures, instructor and student rosters, aircraft availability, live traffic and weather information, including METAR and TAF reports. The display can also highlight student milestones, course completions and safety indicators.
- Additional functionality includes push notifications, home screen widgets, offline airspace maps and the ability to continue selected operational tasks without an internet connection, with changes synchronised when connectivity is restored.
- AFM previously reported that Oscar Yankee released OY Wings 1.111 in October 2026, introducing expanded aircraft maintenance management, fleet airworthiness monitoring, safety reporting and compliance functions. The new applications extend access to the company's existing training and operational management platform across additional devices.
- The applications support seven languages: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish. They are distributed through Apple's App Store, with minimum compatibility requirements including iOS and iPadOS 18, macOS 15 on Apple silicon, watchOS 11 and tvOS 18.
