Global – Danish aviation software developer Oscar Yankee has released OY Wings 1.111, introducing expanded aircraft maintenance management, compliance reporting and safety management functions for flight schools, flying clubs and aircraft operators. The update connects aircraft defect reporting, maintenance actions and return-to-service authorization within a digital workflow, while providing additional tools for monitoring fleet availability and regulatory compliance.
- The update introduces five compliance reports covering 12 months of operational and safety data:
- Defect Trends – Tracks reported and resolved defects, rectification times, recurring defects and training time lost to maintenance issues.
- Fleet Airworthiness – Provides a fleet-wide overview of aircraft airworthiness and operational availability.
- Maintenance Activity – Monitors work orders, completion times, labour and parts usage by aircraft.
- Occurrence Trends – Displays safety occurrences by month, including reporting rates per 1,000 flight hours.
- Reporting Compliance and Corrective Actions – Tracks regulatory reporting deadlines and the status of follow-up actions.
- The redesigned maintenance management system requires crews to record whether defects were identified after each flight, including confirmation when no defects are reported. Outstanding defects are displayed to subsequent crews through aircraft bookings, lesson checklists and rental reports.
- Maintenance personnel can manage defect deferrals using Minimum Equipment List (MEL) categories B, C and D or specified meter readings, with operational restrictions displayed to crews. Aircraft are automatically grounded within the system when a deferral expires, while work orders record maintenance tasks and labour before being locked for final sign-off.
- The safety reporting module now supports configurable reporting deadlines under EU Regulation 376/2014, recording initial, follow-up and final submissions. Operators can generate E5X files for upload to the European Coordination Centre for Accident and Incident Reporting Systems (ECCAIRS), with a preview of the information before submission.
- Additional operational functions include aircraft-specific meter configurations, individual engine meter tracking for multi-engine aircraft, redesigned aircraft status cards and a technical-log-style aircraft history. Billing can be calculated using block time, airborne time or other aircraft meter readings, while service reminders can be linked directly to maintenance work orders.
- The release also introduces an integrated help centre containing 52 role-specific guides covering operational and administrative functions. Version 1.111 is available to all existing OY Wings customers, with maintenance management and E5X export activated through organization settings.
