Oxford Airline Training Adds Competency Assurance to EXPEDITE Program

United Kingdom – new approved pilot training organisation Oxford Airline Training has added Competency Assurance as a standard feature of its EXPEDITE Airline Pilot Career Program following its launch at Pilot Careers Live Manchester. The model reduces students’ exposure to additional training costs while assessing graduates against airline-focused core competencies.

• EXPEDITE costs GBP 65,000 including VAT and is designed to take modular trainees from PPL and completed ATPL theory to a frozen ATPL in 16–18 weeks, subject to weather.
• Competency Assurance covers additional Diamond DA42 aircraft or simulator training required to reach the standard for a UK CAA skills test. OAT will also provide the aircraft without charge when all or part of a skills test must be repeated. UK CAA repeat examiner and test fees remain the student’s responsibility.
• The program includes:
  • 40 hours of Diamond DA42 multi-engine flying.
  • 40 hours of DA42 simulator training.
  • 40 hours of APS MCC training on an Airbus A320 or Boeing 737NG device.
  • Five hours of Advanced UPRT and aerobatic training in a Super Decathlon.
  • 40 hours of classroom technical instruction.
• Additional APS MCC training required to reach the Assessment of Competence is included without extra charge. OAT also covers simulator and interview preparation for confirmed airline assessments after course completion.
• EXPEDITE trains and assesses students against 10 core pilot competencies under Competency-Based Training and Assessment principles.
• Entry requirements include a PPL(A), Night Rating, completed ATPL examinations including KSA 100, 100 hours as pilot-in-command, 160 total flying hours and completion of the CPL qualifying cross-country flight. Candidates also undergo a logbook review and simulator assessment.
• OAT’s training inventory comprises:
  • One Airbus A320 FTD1.
  • One Boeing 737NG FTD1.
  • Two Diamond DA42 TDI FNPT II devices.
  • Six Diamond DA42 TDI aircraft.
  • One Super Decathlon aircraft.
• The academy will hold a Discovery Day at London Oxford Airport on August 8, 2026, with facility tours, simulator access and participation from Loganair’s pilot recruitment team.
• AFM previously reported that OAT launched EXPEDITE in June 2026 as a 125-hour, single-location advanced modular training pathway covering MEP, CPL, MEIR, AUPRT and APS MCC.

It delivers modular MEP, CPL, instrument, AUPRT and APS MCC training using Diamond aircraft and Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG training devices. The academy was established in 2025 and began aircraft flight training operations in June 2026.
