United Kingdom - In the summer of 2025, the Directors of Oxford Airline Training (OAT) set out with a clear ambition: to launch a new kind of UK airline pilot training organisation. The aim was not simply to establish another Approved Training Organisation (ATO), but to create one committed to truly supporting aspiring pilots using MODULAR regulations to gain a frozen ATPL. The mission was to level up the pilot training experience, delivering excellent instruction, on schedule and open doors to airline careers.

Just three months after formulating the vision, Hangar 7 at Oxford Airport was secured. With its exceptional offices and impressive views, this marked the beginning of a journey towards realising their goals.

After only four further months of tremendous effort and enjoyment, the outstanding OAT team achieved UK CAA Approval as a full ATO able to offer modular customers a portfolio of Advanced approved training courses:

  • MEP Class Rating (DA42)
  • MEP Instrument Rating (DA42)
  • MEP CPL (DA42)
  • Advanced UPRT – Super Decathlon
  • APS MCC – B737NG and A320
  • MCCI Instructor

The team did not stop at regulatory approvals; they made substantial investments to properly equip the ATO. The resources assembled include:

  • A spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped 25,000 sqm training centre featuring 4 interactive classrooms, 11 briefing rooms, 3 crew rooms
  • Two type-specific Jet simulators – A320 and B737NG
  • Three DA42 simulators
  • FMS trainers for both jet types - available for use at any time by our customers
  • Access to a fleet of 20 DA42 MEP aircraft and 14 DA40 SEP aircraft – a fleet size and quality many ATOs can only aspire. Aircraft are maintained to the highest standards by our sister company, Triplejae Aviation Engineering, which as a prestigious Platinum Diamond Service Centre is also UK CAA approved
  • All of these quality resources are brought to life by an exceptional team of experienced instructors whose calibre exceeds all expectations

Oxford Airline Founding Directors Anthony Petteford and John Hardcastle highlighted: “We are immensely proud of what our Oxford team has accomplished together. Through determination and a shared mission, we have managed to resource, build, and secure an ATO in just four months—a feat few can claim.  However, our achievement is not just in speed and capacity. It is a clear demonstration to our customers both trainee pilots and airline employers alike, that we deliver on our promises.  If we commit to something, we make it happen.”
