United Kingdom – Oxford Airline Training (OAT) and Ultimate High (UH) combine forces as UK CAA Approved providers of Modular training courses - with a strategic focus upon the highest standards of Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (AUPRT).
OAT provides a diverse portfolio of Advanced SEP and MEP Modular training courses which includes both AUPRT and SEP Tailwheel ‘differences’ training. Ultimate High specialises in an acclaimed and highly regarded FCL.745.A course for the provision of exceptional AUPRT.
Both Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) service individual and airline customers with a variety of training needs. Joining forces, enables these needs to be met on a bespoke and highly customer-centric basis. This partnership brings together two training organisations with a shared commitment to delivering the highest possible standards in professional pilot training.
OAT has established its EXPEDITE Airline Pilot Career Programme to demonstrate that Modular regulations can be used effectively to provide a structured, professionally managed and airline-focused route to a ‘frozen’ ATPL - embracing the Core Competencies of Competency-based Training & Assessment (CBTA).
UH has specialised in the development of flight safety and UPRT for more than 20 years. Its team contributed to the European rulemaking work that produced FCL.745.A and the associated FCL.915(e) instructor requirements. It has subsequently delivered UPRT and flight-safety training for airlines, aviation authorities, aircraft manufacturers, test pilots, investigators and professional pilots from around the world.
OAT enrols trainees with a variety of specialist AUPRT training needs which may be delivered either in the Slingsby T67 Firefly (UH) or the Super Decathlon (OAT). Under the new partnership, selected OAT trainees will complete, as part of OAT’s turnkey EXPEDITE career programme, their Advanced UPRT course with Ultimate High at Goodwood - matching and combining individual training needs with UH’s specialist expertise.
Anthony Petteford, Co-Founder and Director of OAT, said: “At Oxford Airline Training, our priority is to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of all our customers on a personalised and bespoke basis. ‘For something as important as AUPRT, we identified a training partner with exceptional specialist knowledge, instructional experience and an established flight-safety reputation. I have known Greeners and his Team for many years and know that they are at the forefront of AUPRT development. They have helped shape the regulatory standards UH now delivers. It was therefore a natural partnership choice.
Our partnership reflects what OAT is trying to achieve with Modular training: a coherent, professionally managed Competency-Based programme that brings together the strongest elements rather than just a baseline standard.”
Mark Greenfield, CEO and Chief Safety Pilot of Ultimate High, said: “We are delighted that Oxford Airline Training has chosen to partner with Ultimate High to support AUPRT and other evolving training needs for a number of its customers.
OAT’s approach is refreshing. It recognises that Modular training should not mean either fragmented training or different standards. By selecting a specialist partner to help support critical parts of the programme, it can offer its trainees with a coherent route delivered by instructors with deep expertise in the field.
FCL.745.A for AUPRT should be much more than a course-completion certificate. Properly delivered, it provides pilots with a better understanding of how upsets develop, how surprise and startle affect performance, and how to prevent, recognise and recover from a developing loss-of-control situation.
A complementary Modular offering of AUPRT with the addition of Tailwheel differences training, rewards precision, coordination and active aircraft handling—and both activities are collectively great fun.”
Together, Oxford Airline Training and Ultimate High are able to demonstrate that Modular professional pilot training can be flexible, customer centric and cost-conscious whilst remaining structured, demanding and uncompromising in its standards.
