Philippine Naval Air Wing Pilots Undergo G1000 Familiarization at Alpha Aviation Group
Thirteen pilots from the Naval Air Wing (NAW) Philippine Navy underwent a Garmin G1000 Familiarization Course at the Alpha Aviation Group Philippines (AAGP) Simulator Training Center using the Alsim AL172 MKII FNPT II.
The familiarization training covered equipment systems overview, normal and emergency procedures, and instrument flight rules (IFR). The NAW pilots also visited AAG’s approved maintenance organization (AMO) support facility for a subject matter experts exchange (SMEE) on aircarft maintenance, safety and test flight standards.
“The training is part of our ongoing engagement with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as we aim to provide cost-effective, relevant and sustainable training solutions to the Navy, Air Force and Army along with the other uniformed services,” shared Col. Christian Barela (Ret.), Project Manager, Defense Division, AAGP.
The first and only one in the country, the AL172 represents a Cessna 172SP Skyhawk NAV III aircraft equipped with the Garmin G1000® NXi avionics suite, meeting both FAA FTD level 5 and EASA FNPT II requirements for maximum credit hours. It offers a close-to-reality experience, simulating conditions and scenarios that are beyond the envelop of most generic IR simulators.
