Texas, USA – US Aviation Academy (USAA), one of North America's largest professional pilot training organisations, is marking its 20th anniversary, reflecting on two decades of growth from a single-hangar operation in Denton, Texas, into one of the country's most prominent aviation training platforms.

  • US Aviation Academy was founded in January 2006 under its current ownership, beginning with a small number of aircraft in a single building in Denton, Texas.
  • Over its 20-year history, the organisation has scaled to 230 aircraft, 2,000 active students, 260,000 square feet of facilities, and 11 training campuses employing more than 325 flight instructors.
  • Key milestones cited in the anniversary include the award of an $835 million U.S. Air Force contract for initial pilot training, expansion of its A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) maintenance school, and the addition of several new training locations.
  • The A&P school growth referenced in the anniversary aligns with USAA's recently launched Weekend A&P Training Program, designed to provide FAA-certified aircraft maintenance technician training through a flexible weekend schedule targeting working professionals and career changers.
  • USAA marked a significant milestone in October 2025 by becoming the launch customer for TRU Simulation's Cessna Skyhawk Veris Virtual Reality simulator, signing a purchase agreement for five units to be delivered to its Denton, Texas facility. The agreement also includes an option for ten additional units.
  • The Veris is an FAA Level 7-qualified flight training device combining a fully configured Cessna Skyhawk cockpit with Garmin G1000NXi avionics and immersive VR technology, operable with or without a headset. It is TRU Simulation's first fleet order for VR training devices and the first deployment of the Veris into the fixed-wing ab initio training market.

  • "Looking forward to so much more to come with US Aviation Academy!" said Scott Sykes, Business Development Director at US Aviation Academy.
