Poland – Aviation eLearning and flight training software provider Evionica is offering an Introduction to Area 100 KSA course designed to support Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) in preparing ATPL theoretical knowledge students and instructors for competency-based training and assessment. The digital course provides a structured introduction to the knowledge, skills and attitudes framework incorporated into EASA professional pilot training requirements.

  • The course has a duration of 3 hours and consists of two dedicated modules, one for student pilots and one for theoretical knowledge instructors. It is designed to establish a common understanding of Area 100 KSA before participants undertake practical training activities and assessments.
  • The student module introduces the application of theoretical knowledge in operational scenarios, emphasizing reasoning, communication, decision-making, active participation and reflection. It also covers students' responsibilities during exercises, discussions, feedback sessions and assessments.
  • The instructor module focuses on the transition from traditional content-led teaching to competency-based facilitation. Topics include observation, questioning, debriefing, student engagement and consistent, objective assessment of student performance.
  • The course is intended for students beginning ATPL theoretical knowledge training, instructors responsible for delivering or assessing Area 100 KSA activities, and other training personnel involved in implementing the framework. Evionica positions the material as an introductory resource that can be incorporated into an ATO's existing ground school curriculum.
  • Under EASA's Area 100 KSA framework, ATOs are required to integrate competency development into professional pilot theoretical knowledge training, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, situational awareness and workload management. Regulatory guidance requires at least one formative and two summative assessments for the applicable Area 100 KSA learning objectives.
  • AFM previously reported that Evionica introduced Learning Paths within its Learning Management System in May 2026, allowing flight schools and ATOs to structure digital training sequences and monitor student progression. The development forms part of the company's wider digital pilot training offering.
  • The Introduction to Area 100 KSA course is delivered through a responsive web-based platform and includes integrated knowledge checks and a certificate of completion. Evionica states that its theory CBT products supplement conventional training and do not independently provide official examination accreditation.
