International Flight Academy (IFA) has welcomed a new cohort of 12 aspiring pilots into its comprehensive Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) training program.

In 2024 International Flight Academy marked a historic milestone in aviation by launching the Pipistrel VELIS ELECTRO, the first 100% electric aircraft in Portugal. This innovative achievement sets a new standard for eco-friendly aviation training in the country.

The Velis Electro is powered by two water-cooled lithium batteries, providing a flight autonomy of 50 minutes plus reserves.IFA has invested over €400,000 in Viseu, contributing indirectly an estimated €1.5 million to the local economy since its establishment in 2019.IFA’s fleet now includes two Velis Electro aircraft, reinforcing their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and noise.The academy plans to expand by attracting more Portuguese and international students, with current enrollments from 11 different nationalities.
