Portugal – EASA-approved flight training organisation International Flight Academy (IFA) has published an October 2026 update highlighting its Simnest Airbus A320 FNPT II simulator and its application in Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC) training. The device forms part of IFA's established synthetic training infrastructure, supporting the transition of commercial pilot trainees from ab initio flight instruction to multi-crew airline operations.

  • IFA currently advertises four flight simulation training devices across its Portuguese operations: an ALSIM AL250, ALSIM ALX, Simnest Airbus A320 FNPT II MCC and FTD.aero Boeing 737 MAX FNPT II MCC.
  • The academy originally announced its agreement with Hungarian simulator manufacturer Simnest in June 2023. The Airbus A320 device subsequently received certification from Portugal's Autoridade Nacional da Aviação Civil (ANAC), with IFA commencing approved APS MCC training in 2024.
  • IFA's APS MCC course comprises 86 hours of theoretical instruction and 42 hours of simulator training, covering multi-crew coordination, swept-wing jet aircraft operations, airline procedures and operational scenarios.
  • The academy expanded its multi-crew training offering in August 2026 when its Boeing 737 MAX FNPT II simulator at Viseu received ANAC certification for MCC and APS MCC instruction. Students can now select an Airbus A320 training environment at Lisbon/Cascais or a Boeing 737 MAX environment at Viseu.
  • The Simnest A320 device incorporates an aircraft-representative cockpit environment with original equipment manufacturer components and flight control systems. Classified as an FNPT II MCC, it supports procedural and multi-crew training.
