Portugal – EASA-approved training organisation International Flight Academy (IFA) has welcomed 24 new students to its Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) training program at its Cascais campus in September 2026. The intake adds to the academy's ongoing professional pilot training activities across its Portuguese locations.
- The Cascais intake follows the commencement of a separate 15-student ATPL class at IFA's Viseu campus in the same month, bringing the combined intake across these two reported classes to 39 students.
- IFA offers Integrated ATPL(A) training pathways lasting either 16 or 24 months, combining theoretical instruction, practical flight training and simulator-based instruction toward commercial pilot qualifications.
- The academy's integrated course syllabus includes approximately 160 hours of aircraft flight training and 55 hours of simulator instruction, with additional training options for Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC).
- IFA operates training facilities in Cascais, Viseu, and Braga, delivering integrated and modular ATPL courses, private pilot training, aircraft type ratings and instructor training.
- AFM previously reported on the certification of IFA's Boeing 737 MAX-configured FNPT II device at Viseu for MCC and APS MCC training in August 2026.
- IFA currently advertises a fleet of approximately 30 training aircraft and four simulators across its Portuguese operations. Its aircraft types include the Pipistrel Virus, Explorer and Velis Electro, Cessna 152 and 172, and Grumman GA7.
