Portugal – EASA-approved flight training organisation Sevenair Academy has started a new 15-student Airbus ATPi Cadet Programme class at its Ponte de Sor training campus in September 2026.

The Integrated Airbus Pilot Cadet Training Programme is structured as an approximately 24-month pathway for candidates entering with no previous flight experience. It progresses through an approximately eight-week Core phase, 33 weeks of theoretical ATPL instruction, 36 weeks of aircraft and simulator-based basic training and three to four weeks of JOC or APS MCC training.
Successful completion leads to a frozen ATPL comprising a CPL, theoretical ATPL credit, multi-engine instrument rating, advanced UPRT and JOC or APS MCC, together with an Airbus Cadet Code certificate.
Sevenair became an Airbus Flight Academy network partner in November 2025. Airbus said the partnership introduced its ab-initio curriculum at Ponte de Sor using standardised training concepts and Competency-Based Training and Assessment methodology.
AFM previously reported that Sevenair planned two Airbus ATPi intakes during 2026, in April and September, following the launch of the programme. AFM also reported that the academy's first Airbus Flight Academy airline cohort comprised nine Royal Brunei Airlines cadets who arrived in November 2025.
Sevenair currently lists its next publicly available Airbus ATPi programme start dates as November 4, 2026, January 11, 2027 and August 2, 2027. Its selection process includes online screening followed by an on-site assessment covering group exercises, personality and aptitude testing, an interview, simulator evaluation and English-language assessment.
Sevenair's current published aircraft fleet comprises 40 aircraft:
- 6 Cessna 150/152s,
- 8 Tecnam P2008s,
- 11 Piper PA-28s,
- 7 Diamond DA40s,
- 3 Tecnam P2006Ts and
- 5 Diamond DA42s.
AFM previously reported that Sevenair joined the Airbus Flight Academy network in November 2025 while training approximately 200 cadets and intending to progressively increase training capacity. The new 15-student intake represents continued deployment of that Airbus partnership during its first full year of operation.
