RMIT Aviation Academy Named Finalist in 2 Categories at 2026 Australian Aviation Awards

Australia – RMIT University’s Aviation Academy has been named a finalist for Flight Training Business of the Year and Training and Mentorship Program of the Year at the 2026 Australian Aviation Awards. The nominations follow continued growth in RMIT’s university-linked pilot training operation, including more than 100 new student pilots beginning training in 2026.

  • The academy is competing in two award categories, with the winners scheduled to be announced on August 6, 2026, at The Star in Sydney.
  • Justin Brownjohn, Senior Manager of RMIT Aviation Academy, will represent the organization at the awards and attend the Australian Aviation Summit earlier that day. Brownjohn oversees flight training delivery at the academy’s Melbourne and Bendigo operations.
  • AFM previously reported that the academy recorded more than 20,000 flight hours during 2025 and subsequently began Semester 1 of 2026 with more than 100 new student pilots.
  • RMIT Aviation Academy operates a modern fleet of 24 aircraft: 17 Cessna 172s, 4 Cessna 182s, 2 Piper PA-44 Seminoles, and 1 Super Decathlon.
