Florida, USA – Rocket Air Flight Academy, formerly Melbourne Flight Training, has announced plans to add Cirrus TRAC10 aircraft to its training fleet at Melbourne Orlando International Airport, with the first delivery expected in 2027.
- The addition will expand Rocket Air's existing Cirrus training capabilities, with the new aircraft intended for career program students.
- Cirrus introduced the TRAC10 in July 2026, announcing orders for more than 100 aircraft from 13 professional flight schools worldwide. The manufacturer plans to begin US deliveries in 2027, followed by international deliveries in 2028.
- AFM previously reported that Melbourne Flight Training rebranded as Rocket Air in 2026, consolidating its flight training, aircraft maintenance, avionics, aviation supplies and charter activities. The academy reported 40,261 flight hours and 30 Career Aviator Pathway graduates during 2025.
- Rocket Air's planned TRAC10 configuration includes the Cirrus Perspective Core flight deck, based on Garmin AXIS avionics with dual 11.6-inch touchscreen displays, a digital autopilot and air conditioning. The three-seat aircraft features a rear observer station for training, a 160-horsepower turbocharged Rotax 916 iSc engine with Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC), and the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS). Cirrus quotes fuel consumption as low as 5.9 US gallons per hour at 65% power.
- Rocket Air currently advertises a fleet of more than 40 aircraft, comprising Cessna 172, Cirrus SR20 and SR22, and Tecnam P2006T models.
