Simaero and Corsair Develop ICAP Modules for EBT Instructor Standardization

France – Full-flight simulator training provider Simaero and French airline Corsair are jointly developing dedicated Instructor Concordance Assurance Program (ICAP) modules to support Corsair’s Evidence-Based Training instructor standardization. The project uses controlled Airbus A330 simulator scenarios, filmed performance and reference assessments to improve consistency and alignment across the airline’s instructor community.

• The first ICAP scenarios have already been jointly developed and filmed with a Corsair crew using an Airbus A330 Full Flight Simulator at Simaero’s Paris CDG Training Center. The resulting package will combine scenario material, recorded performance and reference assessments for use during Corsair instructor concordance sessions scheduled to begin before the end of 2026.
• Under EASA’s EBT framework, operators are required to establish an instructor standardization and concordance assurance program covering all instructors involved in EBT. The operator must use appropriate methods and metrics to assess concordance and demonstrate that instructors achieve sufficient alignment.
• ICAP addresses both agreement between instructors and accuracy against the intended assessment standard. EASA guidance notes that instructors can show high agreement while collectively grading too high or too low, making alignment with the reference standard an important part of the process.
• The Corsair-Simaero modules are structured around instructors assessing the same controlled performance before comparing grades, observations and the reasoning behind their assessments. The process is intended to identify differences in interpretation and improve consistency in competency grading and root-cause analysis.
• Simaero and Corsair are jointly defining the competency-assessment objectives, scenario outcomes, scripts and course support material. Simaero contributes CBTA/EBT course-design expertise and an external training perspective, while Corsair provides its operator-specific EBT framework and operational requirements.
• Scenario design also incorporates relevant outer-loop information, meaning evidence from sources outside the airline’s own training system can be incorporated alongside operator-specific data when determining the situations and competencies to be assessed. EASA identifies external authority, manufacturer and safety information among potential outer-loop sources within an EBT program.
• The simulator filming was conducted within Simaero’s Paris operation, which currently lists two EASA-qualified Airbus A330-200 Level D Full Flight Simulators. The devices support A330 type-rating, recurrent, instructor/examiner and other airline operational training.
• Corsair operates an all-Airbus A330neo fleet comprising nine aircraft. The ICAP project therefore develops instructor-standardization material around the aircraft family supporting the airline’s entire current flight operation.
• AFM previously reported that Simaero launched dedicated CBTA/EBT services for airlines in January 2026, supporting operators with program design, instructor development and implementation. AFM also previously reported that Simaero and Corsair participate in the Thales-led PERCEVAL research project examining pilot behaviour and competency evaluation, providing an earlier connection between the two organisations in EBT-related development.
