Belgium – Ireland-based airline pilot training provider Simtech Aviation participated in Air Academy New CAG's 50th-anniversary Open Day at Brussels South Charleroi Airport on 26 September 2026, highlighting its Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC) training pathway for students progressing toward airline careers.

  • Air Academy New CAG operates a fleet of 18 training aircraft and two ALSIM AL42 FNPT II simulators, supporting ab initio, commercial pilot, instrument rating and advanced flight training. The academy provides modular training pathways that enable students to progress toward airline qualifications.
  • Simtech Aviation's Head of Sales & Commercial Operations, Maurice Shiels, delivered a presentation to prospective pilots outlining the provider's APS MCC training and its role in preparing cadets for airline assessments and subsequent type rating training.
  • The visit also provided an opportunity for Simtech representatives to reconnect with former graduates who have progressed into airline careers, demonstrating the existing training relationship between the two organisations.
  • The anniversary event followed Air Academy New CAG's move into new training facilities during 2026, including additional classrooms and two ALSIM AL42 FNPT II simulators that entered service in January and February 2026.
  • AFM previously reported that Simtech Aviation strengthened its partnership with Air Academy New CAG in March 2026 through an earlier campus visit by Maurice Shiels, focused on APS MCC training and the progression of Belgian student pilots into multi-crew airline operations.
  • Simtech's APS MCC course comprises four days of ground school and 40 hours of Boeing 737-800 simulator training delivered over 16 days. The course covers crew resource management, standard operating procedures, airline operations, aircraft systems, flight management systems and upset prevention and recovery training, with EASA and UK CAA certification pathways available.
