France – Flight simulator manufacturer ALSIM has begun a flight test campaign with Mermoz Academy and FlyCheck to support development and validation of the flight model for its AL2006 Tecnam P2006T simulator. The campaign targets FAA FTD Level 6 and EASA FNPT II qualification projects, potentially expanding the amount and fidelity of aircraft-specific multi-engine training that operators can conduct in the device.

  • ALSIM is using dedicated onboard instrumentation to collect objective aircraft flight data for development and validation of the AL2006 flight model.
  • Mermoz Academy is providing operational support for the campaign, while FlyCheck test pilots are conducting the flight-testing activity alongside ALSIM’s engineering team. FlyCheck operates a Toulouse-based flight test department with Category 1 and Category 2 test pilot capability.
  • The AL2006 is an aircraft-specific simulator designed around the Tecnam P2006T NG and incorporates original Garmin G1000 NXi avionics, GFC 700 functionality, active control loading and a 210° x 50° visual system.
  • ALSIM initially launched the AL2006 in October 2025 for EASA FNPT II and FTD Level 5 applications. In May 2026, the manufacturer separately announced development of its first P2006T-based FAA FTD Level 6 solution, supported by an order for five devices from US Aviation Academy.
  • Mermoz Academy currently lists five Tecnam P2006T twin-engine aircraft within a 31-aircraft training fleet, providing an operational P2006T environment alongside its existing relationship with ALSIM.
  • AFM previously reported that Mermoz Academy installed its fourth ALSIM simulator in February 2026, a third AL250 at its Tours base. The academy also operates an ALSIM AIRLINER device, establishing an existing simulator partnership between the two organisations.
