Skyborne Airline Academy Appointed as easyJet's Official Integrated ATPL Partner for 500-Pilot FlightCrew Futures Program

United Kingdom – easyJet has announced a new partnership with Skyborne Airline Academy, appointing the UK-based academy as an official integrated ATPL training partner to supply 500 pilots over the next five years, as part of the airline's broader requirement to hire 1,000 new pilots by 2031.

  • The announcement was made by Captain Kate West, Training Manager for Future Pilots at easyJet, at Pilot Careers Live in London, where easyJet outlined a total five-year pilot hiring requirement of 1,000 new pilots.
  • Of those 1,000 pilots, 500 will train through Skyborne Airline Academy on the Integrated ATPL route under the easyJet FlightCrew Futures Program; the remaining 500 will train through easyJet's existing partner, CAE, on the Multi Pilot Licence (MPL) route.
  • The easyJet FlightCrew Futures Program at Skyborne is designed for individuals with little or no previous flying experience, providing a direct and structured route to the easyJet flight deck that includes an Airbus A320 Type Rating; cadets who pass selection receive a conditional job offer from easyJet before commencing training.
  • Both the ATPL and MPL training routes are self-funded; however, selected cadets are mentored by easyJet throughout their training and offered employment upon graduation.

Detail's on the new Skyborne easyJet FlightCrew Futures Program:

  • Accepting applications all year with each intake limited to 20 trainees
  • Phase 1: Theoretical Knowledge Training at Gloucestershire or Bournemouth Airport in the UK for 28 weeks
  • Phase 2: Single-engine flight training including CPL conducted at Vero Beach, Florida, USA for 26 weeks
  • Phase 3: Multi-engine IR Training at Gloucestershire or Bournemouth Airport for 9.5 weeks
  • Phase 4: Advanced UPRT at Gloucester Airport
  • Phase 5: APS MCC at Gloucester Airport
  • Total cost: GBP129,000
  • Program includes an A320 type rating
  • Accommodation is included for the entirety of the training in the cost of the course on a self-catered basis
  • Conditional Offer of Employment from easyJet on successful completion of the assessment process
  • Trainee's can add an undergraduate degree from the University of West London to enrich their Integrated ATPL studies at an additional cost of GBP 12,880.
