United Kingdom & USA – pilot training group Skyborne has confirmed that its 18-member CP61 cohort, comprising British Airways Speedbird Pilot Academy trainees and self-sponsored Integrated ATPL students, has received its final ground-school examination results and is preparing to transfer to the academy’s Vero Beach, Florida campus for single-engine flight training.

  • Skyborne’s UK CAA Integrated ATPL syllabus comprises five phases over approximately 18 months, beginning with 28 weeks of theoretical knowledge training in the UK before trainees move to Florida for 26 weeks of single-engine flight training, including completion of the Commercial Pilot Licence phase. Following the Florida phase, trainees return to the UK for approximately 9.5 weeks of multi-engine instrument rating training, followed by Advanced UPRT and a three-week APS MCC programme.
  • Skyborne states that its Vero Beach campus operates more than 60 Piper single- and multi-engine aircraft across the Warrior, Arrow, Pilot 100i and Seminole types. The campus also operates four FAA-certified Redbird Advanced Aviation Training Devices with interchangeable cockpit configurations.
  • The Vero Beach operation includes a 12-acre training campus, classrooms, aircraft hangars and student accommodation. Skyborne opened a new Operations Control Center at the location in April 2026 to centralise oversight of weather, aircraft availability, instructor resources and daily flight activity as training volumes increased.
  • British Airways’ Speedbird Pilot Academy provides fully funded frozen ATPL training for selected cadets, including accommodation and subsistence support, with participants able to progress toward employment with the airline subject to successful completion of training and programme requirements. Skyborne is British Airways’ official UK preferred training supplier for the pathway.
