Skyborne Opens Jet2NextGen Pathway to Self-Funded Pilot Trainees

United Kingdom – UK pilot training provider Skyborne Airline Academy has opened access to Jet2.com’s new Jet2NextGen future pilot talent programme for eligible self-funded trainees. Successful applicants can receive ongoing airline engagement and a conditional employment offer that includes a Jet2-funded Airbus or Boeing type rating, while continuing to finance their remaining ab-initio training independently.

• Skyborne said its self-funded trainees become eligible to apply after completing their first set of UK CAA ATPL examinations.
• Jet2 will fund the successful candidate’s Airbus or Boeing type rating. Jet2NextGen does not fund the preceding ATPL, CPL, instrument-rating or APS MCC training completed by Skyborne’s self-funded trainees.
• AFM previously reported that Bristol Groundschool became Jet2’s first recognised modular training partner in July 2026, allowing eligible students to be considered for Jet2NextGen after sitting their first four ATPL examinations. AFM also reported that Skyborne is an authorised provider for Jet2FlightPath, the separate approximately 18-month programme under which Jet2 funds the full ab-initio training course.
