Florida, USA – International flight training organisation Skyborne Airline Academy has welcomed 32 cadets from cohorts CP63 and CP64 to its Vero Beach, Florida, training campus following their completion of ATPL theoretical knowledge training in the United Kingdom. The students will now begin single-engine flight training as part of their progression towards professional pilot qualifications.

  • The 32 trainees will undertake 26 weeks of practical flight training in Florida after completing six months of ground school and passing all 13 ATPL theoretical knowledge examinations.
  • Training will focus on single-engine aircraft operations, including aircraft handling, navigation, flight procedures and supervised flying exercises, progressing towards each student's first solo flight.
  • The Florida phase forms part of Skyborne's approximately 18-month Integrated ATPL training pathway. Following single-engine training, students progress to multi-engine instrument rating training in the United Kingdom, followed by Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) and Airline Pilot Standards Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC).
  • The progression of successive cohorts supports Skyborne's international training model, which divides ground school, practical flying and advanced airline preparation between its UK and US facilities.
  • The CP63 and CP64 students will train using Piper Warrior and Arrow single-engine aircraft, supported by Redbird simulation equipment. Skyborne's wider Vero Beach fleet comprises more than 60 Piper aircraft across the Warrior, Arrow, Pilot 100i and Seminole types, alongside four FAA-certified Redbird Advanced Aviation Training Devices.
