Spain – European Flyers, one of Spain's largest flight training group's following its 2025 merger with Aerotec, has signed an Euro 7 million agreement to acquire 12 Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft at the AERO Friedrichshafen exhibition, representing a major fleet modernisation investment aligned with a full decarbonisation target by 2050.

  • The 12-aircraft order for the Tecnam P2010 TDI, powered by the Continental CD-170 diesel engine, represents a strategic shift away from legacy AvGas-powered trainers toward significantly lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.
  • The P2010 TDI is equipped with Garmin avionics and a composite airframe, providing a modern flight deck environment that European Flyers positions as directly preparing students for commercial airline cockpits.
  • European Flyers was already progressing through an existing Tecnam orderbook of 10 aircraft reported in 2025, with the new 12-unit P2010 TDI order representing a substantial acceleration of fleet renewal and expansion.
  • Founded in 1991, European Flyers established itself as Spain's leading pilot training provider following its merger with Aerotec in 2025, operating from bases in Cuatro Vientos (Madrid), Mutxamel (Alicante), Casarrubios (Toledo), and Seville, with over 33 years of experience training airplane, helicopter, and drone pilots.
  • European Flyers is an affiliated center of the Polytechnic University of Madrid for the Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Management, an EASA-approved ATO, and a certified Aviation English center authorised to issue ICAO language proficiency certificates.
  • Tecnam states that flight schools using its single- and twin-engine fleet can save up to 10 tonnes of CO₂ per student completing a CPL — a 60% reduction compared to a 100LL fleet across 155 flight hours including 30 twin-engine hours.

Statements

  • "An investment of this scale reflects European Flyers' ambition to provide its students with the most advanced technology on the market and to strengthen our leadership in aviation training in Spain," said Luis Miñano, Managing Director of European Flyers.
  • "Their commitment to sustainability and technological excellence perfectly aligns with Tecnam's vision for the future of flight training. The P2010 TDI is the ideal aircraft to support their ambitious decarbonization goals," said Walter Da Costa, Chief Sales Officer at Tecnam.
