Texas, USA – Spartan Flight Academy (SFA), part of Spartan Education Group, has expanded its fleet at Grand Prairie Municipal Airport with new Piper Archer aircraft equipped with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics.

  • Seven new Piper Archer aircraft have joined the SFA training fleet, according to the academy's July 30 announcement. All seven are equipped with Garmin G1000 NXi glass-cockpit avionics.
  • The aircraft will support training from SFA's Grand Prairie Municipal Airport operation. The academy currently provides FAA Part 141 and Part 61 training and has facilities including classrooms, briefing areas, flight-planning resources and direct flight-line access.
  • Piper's current Archer TX training aircraft uses a 180 hp engine and Garmin G1000 NXi avionics as standard, including primary and multifunction displays, a Garmin G5 standby display and ADS-B capability.
  • AFM previously reported that Spartan Flight Academy added a Garmin G1000-equipped Piper Archer PA-28-181 in March 2026 and subsequently secured FAA Part 141 approval in May.
  • The Texas operation was created from Aviator Air Flight School after Spartan Education Group acquired the business in October 2025 and rebranded it later that year.

  • “Our investment in new Piper Archer aircraft reflects Spartan Flight Academy’s continued focus on student success and operational excellence,” said Robert Werderich, Executive Vice President of Spartan Flight Operations. “Our expanded fleet of aircraft will prepare SFA students for the technology and workflows that they will potentially encounter throughout their professional aviation careers.”
