SriLankan Airlines Appoints Vipul Misra as Acting CEO

Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka’s national carrier SriLankan Airlines has appointed Vipul Misra as Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective 9 September 2026, placing an executive with more than two decades of aircraft engineering and airline management experience in the interim leadership role.

  • Misra joined SriLankan Airlines in 2024 as Head of Engineering and has more than 20 years of aircraft engineering experience, including positions ranging from licensed aircraft engineer to Deputy General Manager and other management roles.
  • His previous airline experience includes Air India, Vistara, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Kingfisher Airlines and Air Deccan, covering full-service, low-cost, start-up and legacy carrier operating environments.
  • SriLankan Airlines operates 23 Airbus aircraft, comprising ten A330 widebodies and 13 A320/A321-family aircraft.
