Starlite Aviation Training Academy Seeks Chief Flight Instructor for Durban-Based Fixed Wing Programs

South Africa – Starlite Aviation Training Academy, a South African pilot training organisation for rotor and fixed wing based in Durban, is seeking to recruit a Chief Flight Instructor (Fixed Wing) to lead its approved flying training programs.

  • The role reports to the Deputy Head of Training and carries responsibility for the delivery of SACAA-approved and international flying training programs, encompassing flying, simulator, and ground theory training.
  • The Chief Flight Instructor will maintain oversight of all Grade II and Grade III Instructors, including standardisation of techniques, competency checks, and ongoing instructor development.
  • Additional responsibilities include managing student dual checks, liaising with contract sponsors, overseeing daily and monthly flight program scheduling, and ensuring efficient aircraft and instructor utilisation.
  • The position requires a minimum of three years in a Chief Flight Instructor or training management role, with military flying training experience listed as a critical requirement alongside Human Factors Instructor and Flight Safety Officer qualifications.
  • Minimum qualifications include a SACAA CPL (Fixed Wing) with a Grade II Instructor rating, CPL/ATPL, multi-engine rating, and at least 1,000 hours of instruction, along with in-depth knowledge of SACAA regulations.
