Switzerland – H55, a Swiss-based company specialising in certified electric propulsion and certification-grade energy storage systems for aviation, has joined the Swiss Aerospace Cluster, deepening its integration into Switzerland's advanced aerospace innovation ecosystem.

  • H55 was founded as the direct technological legacy of the Solar Impulse Foundation programme and builds on more than two decades of hands-on electric aviation experience, having designed, built, and flown multiple electric aircraft with over 2,000 hours of fully electric flight accumulated with zero battery-related incidents.
  • The company has developed what it describes as the first certifiable energy storage system for aviation propulsion — a platform currently in the process of being integrated into several next-generation customer aircraft programmes, addressing a critical bottleneck in the commercialisation and regulatory approval of electric aircraft.
  • Membership of the Swiss Aerospace Cluster positions H55 within a network of precision engineering and advanced manufacturing partners, with the stated goal of strengthening Switzerland's role in next-generation aerospace technology development.

About H55
H55 is a Swiss-based company specialising in certified electric propulsion and certification-grade energy storage systems for aviation. The company enables electric aviation to scale by transforming commercial lithium cells into aviation-safe Energy Storage Systems that regulators approve, insurers underwrite, and OEMs can deploy repeatedly as a certified propulsion platform across aircraft programs. This is achieved through independent cell characterisation, rigorous incoming screening, redundant safety architectures, and regulator-aligned testing designed around worst-case failure scenarios.
