Training Aircraft Manufacturer Tecnam Unveils MOSAIK59 Lineup Under FAA Reform

25th Feb 2026

USA – Tecnam Aircraft, the Capua-based global piston aircraft manufacturer, has unveiled its new “MOSAIK59” product line in response to the FAA’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) regulations, positioning itself to capitalize on expanded Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) privileges for Sport Pilots and flight training operators.

  • The MOSAIC framework replaces traditional weight-based LSA limits with performance-based criteria, including a 59-knot clean stall speed threshold.

  • The updated rules allow:

    • Four-seat aircraft (limited to one passenger for Sport Pilots)

    • Retractable landing gear

    • Constant-speed propellers

    • Multi-engine configurations

  • Additional Sport Pilot privileges take effect in October 2025, with new Part 22 LSA registrations beginning July 2026.

The MOSAIK59 name reflects:

  • M.O.S.A.I.: Modular Optimized Sport Aviation Initiative, emphasizing adaptable aircraft platforms for training and cross-country missions.

  • K59: The 59-knot clean stall speed requirement under MOSAIC, enabling higher-performance aircraft eligibility.

Tecnam’s MOSAIK59 fleet includes:

  • P92 Echo MKII – Entry-level platform aligned with MOSAIC standards, maintaining 1,320 lb takeoff weight and powered by the Rotax 912iS.

  • P2008 Next Generation – Increased Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) under MOSAIC; available with Rotax 916iS or 912iS engines and optional airframe parachute system.

  • Astore GT – Low-wing aircraft powered by the 160 HP Rotax 916iS, featuring in-house air conditioning and optional ballistic parachute.

  • P2010 – Now compliant with the 59-knot stall requirement, enabling Sport Pilot operation of a certified four-seat aircraft (limited to one passenger), powered by Lycoming or Continental CD-170 (Jet-A1).

  • P2006T NG – Multi-engine aircraft compliant with the 59-knot rule, enabling twin-engine operations under Sport Pilot privileges within the Part 22 MOSAIC framework.

Statements

  • “When we read the Rule for the first time, we thought it was shaped around our mission, now more than ever confirmed: making flying easier, safer, and accessible for everyone. MOSAIC opens a new era of opportunities across the aviation community. Tecnam is ready to tailor our most trusted platforms to help more people access aviation with plug-and-play solutions. “Your Ambition. Our Wings” is now stronger than ever with MOSAIC.” – Giovanni Pascale Langer, Managing Director, Tecnam S.p.A.
