Turkish Airlines Finalizes Order for Up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft

Türkiye – Turkish Airlines has finalized an order with Boeing for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, comprising 100 firm 737-8s and options for a further 50 MAX-family aircraft. The scale of the narrowbody order increases the airline group’s longer-term Boeing 737 MAX pilot training requirement as Turkish Airlines simultaneously expands its domestic simulator infrastructure.

• The agreement covers 100 firm Boeing 737-8 aircraft and options for another 50 737 MAX jets, making it Turkish Airlines’ largest Boeing single-aisle order. The airline also holds substitution rights allowing it to convert aircraft to the larger 737-10 variant.
• The September 23, 2026 agreement concludes negotiations first disclosed in September 2025, when Turkish Airlines said discussions covering 100 firm and 50 option 737-8/10 MAX aircraft had been completed subject to agreement with engine manufacturer CFM International.
• Boeing states that Turkish Airlines, including AJet, currently operates more than 200 Boeing aircraft across the 737 MAX, 737NG, 787, 777 passenger and 777 Freighter families. The wider Turkish Airlines fleet stood at 567 passenger and cargo aircraft at the time of the order announcement.
• The order follows Turkish Airlines’ 2025 commitment for up to 75 Boeing 787 aircraft and forms part of its wider fleet expansion strategy. Boeing did not disclose a delivery schedule for the newly finalized 737 MAX order in its September 23 announcement.
• AFM previously reported that Turkish Airlines is expanding its Boeing 737 MAX simulator fleet with HAVELSAN to five Full Flight Simulators. Two HAVELSAN B737 MAX FFSs were already operational, a third had completed EASA certification, and a further two devices are planned under the airline’s simulator expansion program.
• AFM also previously reported that Turkish Airlines signed for 12 additional HAVELSAN training devices in July 2026, comprising eight Full Flight Simulators and four Flight Training Devices covering narrowbody and widebody aircraft. The agreement supports new simulator hangars scheduled to begin operations from 2027 and a new Flight Training Center planned for completion in 2028.
• Turkish Airlines and HAVELSAN have operated a joint Boeing-focused training facility at HAVELSAN’s Ankara campus since 2023. As of July 2026, six HAVELSAN Level D devices were reported in Turkish Airlines operation — three Airbus A320ceo/neo FFSs, two Boeing 737 MAX FFSs and one Boeing 737NG FFS — while another B737 MAX simulator had completed certification.
