Australia – UAE-based aviation training equipment manufacturer Spatial Composite Solutions is working with CrewSafety Australia to convert a Bombardier Challenger 605 business jet into a Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET) for its training facility in Melbourne. The project will introduce an aircraft-based emergency training environment for business aviation crews and personnel involved in specialist aviation operations.
- The conversion uses an original Challenger 605 aircraft rather than a purpose-built simulator structure, preserving its existing cabin, galley and flight deck to provide crews with an authentic aircraft environment for emergency procedures training.
- Once operational, the device will support training for business aviation personnel as well as crews involved in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), law enforcement, rescue and aeromedical operations.
- The new trainer will expand CrewSafety's practical emergency procedures training capabilities at its Tullamarine facility near Melbourne Airport, supporting aircraft evacuation exercises and scenario-based crew response training.
- AFM previously reported that CrewSafety expanded its Tullamarine training infrastructure in July 2026 with the commissioning of a cabin fire and smoke trainer. The facility offers both instructor-led training and dry-hire access for operators using their own instructors.
- Spatial's engineering scope includes integrating a new training door, replacement electrical systems and visual simulation systems into the existing Challenger airframe. The modifications are intended to enable emergency training scenarios while retaining the aircraft's original configuration.
Statements
- "This is a particularly interesting project as it is exceedingly rare to be offered an airframe in such good, and complete, condition. The challenge has been integrating the functionality CrewSafety needs while retaining the authenticity of the original business jet wherever possible. It’s exactly the kind of bespoke engineering challenge our team enjoys taking on." shared Marc Van den Broucque, Managing Partner at Spatial Composite Solutions.
- “In an emergency, crews need to make decisions and act quickly in the environment they know. That is why we wanted to start with a real aircraft. Spatial is helping us turn an exceptionally well-preserved Challenger into a training device that will let crews practise in an authentic cabin and build confidence for the moments that matter most.” said Joseph Marks, CEO of CrewSafety Australia.
