UK Airline Seeking Second Officers for A320 Operations in 2026

United Kingdom – British Airways has opened applications for permanent full‑time pilot roles flying the Airbus A320 from its Heathrow and Gatwick bases.

  • Location: Heathrow Airport (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW)
  • Closing date: 31/12/2025

Successful candidates will be employed as pilots flying the A320 fleet.

  • Gatwick‑based pilots will operate under the BA Euroflyer fixed roster pattern.
  • Heathrow‑based pilots will be rostered on the British Airways Master Seniority List (MSL).
  • Both Gatwick and Heathrow pilots will appear on the same seniority list, and moves to other fleets are awarded annually in seniority order.
  • The career path offers options: continue flying short‑haul and become a captain, or transfer to one of British Airways’ long‑haul fleets. Additionally, there are non‑flying career opportunities (training, recruitment, etc.).

Requirements:

  • Current A320 type rating with base training completed* and have flown the type within the past 12 months
  • Current UK issued CAA Flight Crew Licence ATPL (A), fATPL (A), MPL
  • UK Class 1 medical
  • Height between 1.57 m (5’2”) and 1.91 m (6’3”). Qualified pilots taller than 1.91 m may submit an application but will be required to undergo a functionality check to confirm their ability to meet requirements of the seating positions in the variety of BA fleets
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Spoken and written English ICAO level 6
  • Valid passport (minimum 12 months before expiry date)
  • Fewer than 500 hours on the A320
