United Kingdom – Women-in-aviation organisation Elevate(her) has publicly released its report examining how training costs, VAT and educational recognition affect access to UK flight training.
- The three principal survey findings were:
- 84.2% of respondents believed flight training should receive formal recognition from the Department for Education as an educational pathway.
- 80.3% said removing the 20% VAT burden would make them more likely to complete all their flight training in the UK.
- 76.5% had considered completing their training abroad because of lower costs.
- Elevate(her) said the response to the report’s initial completion announcement prompted it to make the full document publicly accessible through its research platform.

- AFM previously reported that Elevate(her) partnered with Skyborne Airline Academy in 2025 to provide outreach, mentoring and free resources intended to increase access to aviation careers and female representation in pilot training.
