American AirlinesCEO Robert Isom said that the nationwide pilot shortage could take three years before it gets back to pre pandemic status. Isom said that the solution that regional airlines, upgrading first officers to captains, could take two or three years to work out while on training new mainline pilots could catch up in just a year.
