Texas & Oklahoma, USA – US Aviation Academy (USAA), one of the largest aviation and pilot training organizations in North America operating over 230 aircraft, has reported that members of US Air Force pilot training Class 26-15 who began Initial Pilot Training at its Denton campus have reached assignment night at Vance Air Force Base.
- US Aviation Academy holds a 10-year, USD835.6 million US Air Force contract to provide Initial Pilot Training through December 2035. The academy supplies aircraft, simulators, curriculum and instructional services for US and international military candidates.
- Assignment night, also known as drop night, is the stage at which student pilots learn which aircraft they will fly and where they will receive their follow-on assignment.
- The Air Force’s IPT model uses FAA Part 141 training to provide approximately 110 flight hours over a maximum of 139 days, culminating in a Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating and Multi-Engine Rating before students transfer to military-operated training.
- US Aviation Academy delivers the contracted Private Pilot, Instrument and Multi-Engine training at campuses including Denton, San Marcos and New Braunfels in Texas and Peachtree City in Georgia.
- AFM previously reported that US Aviation Academy’s IPT contract has supported demand for civilian instructors, with the academy reporting a 95% hiring rate among its eligible flight-instructor graduates during 2026.
