US Flight Training Group Acquires Idaho FTO in November 2025

October 30, 2025

Idaho, USA – Pilot Training Northwest (PTN), a long-standing aviation training provider in northern Idaho, has been acquired by All Sports Aviation, with the transition taking effect on November 1, 2025. The change in ownership marks a new chapter for the Sandpoint-based flight school, known for its deep community roots and commitment to youth aviation education since its founding in 2017.

  • The business will be led by Gary Brook, owner of All Sports Aviation, who will oversee operations at Sandpoint Airport while expanding training programs in partnership with the existing Deer Park, Washington location.
  • Outgoing owner Jacob Klinginsmith, who purchased PTN from founder Ken Larson in 2022, will assist with the handover to ensure continuity of training operations and community programs.
  • Under its new ownership, PTN will expand its fleet and course offerings, introducing additional tailwheel, backcountry, and seaplane training, alongside its existing private, instrument, and commercial pilot programs.
  • All Sports Aviation plans to maintain PTN’s strong local partnerships with schools and youth aviation organizations, offering student discounts and scholarships to promote accessibility in flight training.
  • The new management aims to reinforce the academy’s role as a regional backcountry and recreational flying hub, leveraging Idaho’s diverse terrain for advanced pilot development.
  • “I’m happy to carry on the traditions of Pilot Training Northwest, offering help to the youth of Sandpoint and beyond,” said Gary Brook, adding that expanding training in the Idaho backcountry is a key focus.
  • Klinginsmith said the transition aligns perfectly with PTN’s mission: “Gary and I have worked together for years, and our vision for flight training is very similar. We both love aviation and want to make it accessible, safe, and achievable for everyone.”
