Ohio, USA – FlightSafety International has completed an expansion and renovation of its Columbus Learning Center adjacent to John Glenn Columbus International Airport, with architecture and design firm Oculus Inc. identifying the development as Project Cardinal. The project increases the facility's capacity from 14 to 20 full-flight simulators, with FlightSafety expecting annual training reservations to increase by 42% once additional simulators become operational.

FlightSafety officially announced completion of the expanded facility on July 16, 2026. Oculus Inc., which designed the simulator-bay expansion, identified the development as Project Cardinal. Its scope also included new briefing rooms and classrooms, renovated customer lounges and additional rooms for flight training devices.
Miller Valentine Construction served as construction partner and stated in August 2026 that it had completed the latest expansion while the training facility remained operational. The construction company said its working relationship with FlightSafety extends for more than 25 years.
More than 125 instructors currently support nearly 4,000 pilots training at the Columbus facility each year, according to FlightSafety. The centre delivers approximately 175,000 hours of aviation training annually.
FlightSafety's current Columbus simulator listing includes training capability for the Bombardier Challenger 350 and Challenger 650; Cessna Citation Latitude and Longitude; Embraer Legacy 500/EMB 550; Bombardier Global 6000 and Global 7500; and Embraer Phenom 300.
FlightSafety opened its Columbus Learning Center in 1999 and has expanded the facility multiple times. An earlier expansion completed in 2018 increased the centre's simulator capacity as additional Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault and Embraer training programmes were introduced.
